W124 3.4

I know they did a 300ce-24 with a AMG 3.4, but not a e320.
The E320 AMG engine was a 3.6, known as a E36.

Not seen one of those before. AMG did a few early M103 3.4 conversions but not seen an M104 with a 3.4. Looks like it could be genuine from the stickers?
In the UK all our convertibles were HFM engined but in the states (and obviously Europe) their early ones had the 3ltr-24V engines.

Hard to tell from the pictures but the wheels look like replicas.

Not sure I like the rear lights, would prefer the top half smoked. Funny also as the description box calls the car a E36 AMG ??? Anyone spotted the custom sound system with 3 speakers in each door, Bet that must be loud !

Check out the speakers in those doors! :o  :bannana: :D

Not too sure on the authenticity of it, but it looks to be in pretty good nick though :)

Perhaps you could email the VIN to AMG to confirm or something?

E34 was a Euro-only model, built for 3 years. They made about 50

The car must have been a prefacelift, hence the AMG conversion is based on the 300-24.

It certainly is an AMG 300 CE 3.4.

It is NOT a 320

It is NOT E36 either.

It IS a pre facelift car which has the facelift front parts added ie. bonnet.

The giveaway is the rear bumper. the overrider does not fiully wrap around the sides like the facelift cars, but stops half way.

The seller is a naughty boy or totally ignorant.

Wonder what the paperworks shows - could be a minefield - hence the price I guess.

Seller has added some new pics, including one of the VIN plate, which does give the game away.

The thing is, there never was an "official" AMG 300 CE 3.4 convertible. (See Malcolm's list above.)

The EPC datacard has a December 1992 date on it.

The AMG badge on top of the spark plug cover looks like a bit of an afterthought.

I've not seen a heated windscreen washer reservoir before.

What's up with the VIN plate?

I must have misunderstood your last post - it's just where it said

'Seller has added some new pics, including one of the VIN plate, which does give the game away.'

I thought you'd noticed something wrong with the VIN plate, that's all :)

Rusty, unpainted non-original screws on the VIN plate. It's either had a new front panel (hence the facelift parts?) or it's been off. Either way someone careless replaced it

The data card lists:
784 8 x 17 et28 235/45, 1-piece (с 01.01.1978)

Which would have been Aero I's, shame there missing too.
