W124 E200 M111 - stalls immediately after start.

Hi all,

Have just brought an old E200 estate with the M111 engine. When I start it in the morning, it will immediately stall (presumably not helped by the cold), unless I put my foot on the gas, which I have to do every morning.

Is this normal for this car or could there be an issue with it that should be fixed?

In the video, you can see what happens on the first try, on the second try I put my foot on the gas and it does reluctantly keep turning

I do have it booked in for a B service + new spark plugs on Monday so maybe that will improve it.

What's the idle like when it's hot?

It idles very nice when hot, no fluctuation or lumpyness. It starts fine when warmed up as well.

I'm tempted to say the throttle body needs cleaning out, see how it behaves after you've given it a service.

Thanks, I'll give that a go if it's still not fixed after the service. I just brought it and the last service was in 2022 so I'm hoping new fuel filter and spark plugs will cheer her up
