want to lower my w124, anyone got some springs hanging around their garage?

I have. What's the model?

I'll dig them out later and find out what they're for. I bought them (from ECP) for my E320 but the front was waaay too low. ECP insisted they were correct and refused to refund but a few months later changed their website
I think they are okay for your car but I'll check.
Cost? I dunno, a tenner? Delivery will be more of a problem I suspect.
Let me check and we'll go from there.

yeh, sounds like they are too soft for the extra weight of the engine in a 320. If you find them ill have those off you thanks. I can arrange a courier to pick them up if you can box them up or wrap them up.
cheers.

Bad news. They're no good for the E220.
From the Eurocarparts site they fit...
260E, 300E, 300e-24, 250D, 300D, 320E (not the coupe )

they should be ok then, its not a coupe I have, its a saloon. You still ok to send them?

The point is they list a different spring for the 220, 230 etc. I don't think mine are any good for the four cylinder models. Sorry :o

The difference between 4 and 6 cylinder models is spring stiffness. The ride height is then set with the rubber shims.

If the O/p wants a stiffer ride then they should work well.

I'm not so sure. On my coupe, even with 4 bump pads, it was too low. Having the correct springs seems quite critical. On a 4 cylinder car I imagine it would sit too high, even with 1 bump pads. The ones I have are for a 6 cylinder saloon, not a 4 cylinder.

The E220 fronts have a typical p/n A124 321 20 04 and the 260E/300E/E320 has a range of A124 321 19-30 04, typically ranging at 21-23.

One version has a number of 34 though so that must be much stiffer, like the 300E-24v.

If they don't fit it's because they are pattern parts.

hi janner, id still like to buy them and try them if thats ok. pm me your details if your ok going ahead.
cheers
mike

Okay, but if the ride height's wrong.....

I'll pack them up tomorrow (if I get time) then I'll PM you the size and weight.

cheers

thanks paul. Ive just noticed your car is a 320. I originally discussed this with janner who offered me a set, apparently the springs for a 6cyl are no good for a 4cyl because they are stiffer to allow for the extra weight. mine is a 220. Thanks for your efforts though.

:thumb: No problem, good luck in your quest
