Hi; was hoping that someone could help me out here with advice on a strange whiring noise eminating from the front of the rocker cover area of my engine. It started about 2 days ago and has become louder since.
My vehichle is a W124 E220 1995 estate; if I remove the black plastic trim on the rocker cover area there is a circular fitting with an electrical connection; this would appear to sit at the end of the cam shaft. My attention is drawn to this area when listening hard.
Like I say it sounds as if it is a whiring noise which becomes higher in pitch if the revs inscrease: Other-wise the car drives well but worried that this is causing some sort of damage.
Hope this does not turn out to be too expensive as I have just about reached the point of giving up on the old girl: Spent too much.
