W164 Om642 strange fault code?
"Front SAM 905D circuit 15 relay open"

I'm working on the wife's car and managed to clear and or fix all electrical faults over the years except the one on the front SAM unit.

The fault is Front SAM- 905D circuit 15 relay open.

Her car is a 2007 ML W164 with the V6 OM642.

I'm using two different diagnostic systems that bring up this fault code but it will not clear. (Delphi and Icarsoft MBII)

I've searched multiple online areas about the 905D circuit 15 and there is very limited material on it.
F58kH is mentioned and talks about it starting the starter relay coil.

Relay 'H' in the front fuse box relates to the front SAM's circuit 15. I've swapped out this relay yet the gremlin still persists? The front SAM looks healthy with no signs of moisture.

Has anyone come across this fault before or thinks how they know I could resolve it ?

I guess we are talking about F58 instead of N10, no bid deal though.

Did you expect the relay to start working just by clearing codes? Codes are not there just to force you to visit a garage for easy money for them, even if owners often feel so.

You should find a proper wiring diagram and test signal around the relay. Does it receive CL30 power, does it get feed to the coil (pin 85), if it operates, do you see proper voltage at the relay output (pin 30) etc.

Thanks for the reply,

To be honest, yes I sometimes expect & pray that some codes vanish after a dignostic's wipe!

But as you've pointed out they do appear for a reason...

I will check the full diagram. I also will inspect inside the fuse box as a GL owner had a very similar issue with a burnt out / internally damaged fuse box which was effecting some of his relays.

Hello... I am a new member and it will not let me reply to your thread about the silver arrow wheels... Serious buyer and I have been scouring the planet for them. I am also a longtime member of the US MB club ...anyway, I would greatly appreciate it if you could reach out to me since I cannot reach out to you

Hi I was wondering if you ever resolved your 905d issue and if so what was the cause?
