W168 A210 Evolution
Hi, I have the common indicator fault on my W168 A210 evolution (you try to indicate left but it indicates right).

I am struggling to find a replacement cluster with the same part number (a168 540 1047) are there any other options?

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome!

Not as far as I know - I can only go by the video on Forrera's page, but I'm sure he would've mention an alternative solution, if there was one.

Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if I need to replace it with the same part number cluster? There seems to be LOADS of different ones.

My copy of EPC has 3 part number entries for a 168.035 (A210 Evolution) with option 461 Instrument with miles and English legend)

A 168 540 97 11 Instrument cluster, reading in miles up to chassis J858429, to date 14/10/2002

replaced by (but first exhaust stocks of old ident no)
A 168 540 10 47 Instrument cluster, reading in miles; up to chassis K 037132 up to date 28/01/2004

A 168 540 33 47 Instrument cluster, reading in miles; from chassis K 037133 from date 28/01/2004.

EPC part search shows 10 47 was only fitted to the 210 Evolutions.

Think you need to talk to Forrera, best source of W168 info that I know of:

Hi there. What's this EPC parts search? I'm intrigued to know as there will be a time when I might need parts for my A210. My LCD Display has recently started playing up (pixelating) your man at Forrera put me onto a cluster repair company - £££££ going to dismantle it myself and have a look at what I can do. Or look and see if anything is glaringly wrong before I start welding my soldering iron about the place. ;)

You can always join the official Mercedes-Benz Club for about £33 and it comes with free access to the EPC and Workshop Information System (WIS). I am not a member and I have my own subscription to the EPC. As to failed instrument clusters I have attempted to get one to work without any success. There is nothing remotely serviceable in them other than replacing the ribbon cable and the lcd display. It will cost you £200 plus to have a repairer look at it and considerably more to replace it. Even if you get one from a breaker they are still expensive.

... Yep, had out and on the kitchen table Armed with various micro tools. Gave it a look once apart and promptly rebuilt it and installed it straight back into the car!! When I can't see moving parts (electrics ) I'm useless.
I know exactly what the mileage is so just keeping my eye on it and dreaming that it will mend itself ;)
