My cooling fan is running all the time that the engine is running.
I feel this can't be right.
It is clearly an electric fan.
Is there a temperature switch or sensor ... If so - Where will I find it ?
Is its operation on/off or is it progressive - - - The hotter the engine - the faster the fan ?
Help please.
thanks.
J.

Is it going slowly or hooning round? Is your aircon switched on? Fan will run at low speed all the time if ac is switched on

Thanks Jobsworth.
My AC is always switched on and the fan is running at low speed.
I'll try switching the AC off.
If the AC is off and I'm idling in traffic, I'm guessing that the fan will come on as the coolant temp increases.
Is this correct ?
Also - With AC on, when idling in traffic, will the speed increase ?

Yes, the fan will ramp up or down as required to maintain correct operating temperature. You are probably unduly concerned. Warning lights will come on if anything goes wrong

Thanks Jobsworth.
You're right - I am a little paranoid about this car.
I only acquired it recently, and it has been poorly maintained .... VERY poorly !!
I've read so many horror stories about worn camshaft sprockets, chain tensioners that don't work and corroded sub-frames, that I wonder what's next.
Seriously - I didn't pay a lot for it, but I've been surprised how many things I've had to sort out.
Thanks for your advice.
J.
