Car
e320 cdi, 525tds bmw,
Hi all,
Hope your doing well.

Can I ask for a bit of info please.

A car think the model is w204, it a c class 200 diesel, 2011.
It's been parked up for a nice bit, & I'm told it's issue is the sub frame as gone. (I take they mean the rear).

If I buy this car (should get it cheap), I'd probably do job my self along with my dad.
How much cost of a frame be.?
& Ive never done 1, dad as done loads on the old mini"s & few other old cars in the past.
How hard is it.?

Strange 1 for you.
Thanks a lot.

Not strange at all, just search this forum for "rear subframe" and you'll find plenty of posts in the issue. In fact, it's a very common issue, sadly.

Before doing anything to the car, take it to your local dealer and ask about a free repair.

It's a known issue, and while MB haven't issued a formal recall (not in the UK anyway), they have been known to replace them FOC.

There's no guarantee that you'll be successful, but it's certainly worth a try.

Hi ya markjay,
Yeah seen & heard a lot of this issue.
Was told the the frame rots from inside out., that the outside is treated, but not the inner.

Doubt I'd be able to use main dealer, something tells me.
Not sure yet what to do, If the car still there, & inside is ok, & engine is sweet.
I'd probably be looking at taking it.
The car is at a garage & they have not got round in doing it &:it's up for sale.
Think they quoted well over the 3k € to do the job to someone.
Like I say if I can get car cheap & the chassis cost me 1k then not bad price car.

Thanks markjay

Apparently, you can also get aftermarket ones, not sure about the quality but they are definitely cheaper than genuine MB.

But budget also for new bushes, bolts, and possibly also new brake lines.

Yeah true I suppose, while your there doing 1 job.

Is the car above , w204, CDI , 2011, dpf or ad-blue.?

Thanks markjay.

DPF only, no AdBlue (thankfully).

Why you say thankfully.?

I've had BMW with dpf problems & a pain in the back side.
Sister as ,think it's 2015, c220 CDI ad-blue , & she love it, fuel economy is great along with the power she says.

Cool markjay.

The 'thankfully' was aimed at the AdBlue system.

DPF is a different type of pain... and nowhere near as bad as AdBlue.

Your not a lover of the ad blue. You had problems with it markjay.?
I've had mega problems with dpf on a BMW.

I've just watched a YouTube vid of a guy changing over rear sub frame on w204.
Made it look easy enough.

No, I don't have a car fitted with the AdBlue system, and never will, either.

But I've been on this forum long enough... the complaints are coming in on weekly basis. The car won't start, diagnostic cost £££, and repair (if they can find the fault) costs ££££.

I had a car fitted with DPF for 5 years and luckily had no issues. But even when you do get issues with DPF, the worst case scenario is a new DPF and sensor (if it can't be cleaned), which costs much less that fixing a faulty AdBlue system.

Morning markjay / all.

Yeah like I was saying.. sister had a Merc yrs ago with dpf, we could not fix the issue, now she as the ad blue & not a days trouble & she moves it & the car is on the road doing roughly 50mile a day.
C220 CDI 2015 I think.

Dad as the 2007 e220 CDI, moves it even more, & does milage sometimes. But won't think twice about going on a 1500 mile drive to Spain or so.
Not sure if it's dpf or ... Ive asked but forget.

I had BMW 530 2009; & the dpf we can't get right, & im not going the route of blanks or delete.
Personal I don't say I don't care about environment but I bet other cars (I won't name) have blanks , or the governments of the world don't care it's all about money. (TV show on last night, Richard Attenborough, & some part of Africa is burn poop loads of land , f the animals, just to plant more chicken feed produce.)
I do my bit...

But I don't want to blank because I no it will cause another issue later, then it be harder to trouble shoot.

I'm really thinking of that Merc with the chassis issue above, at mo I'm using wife's Kia ceed 1.6 cdri & it's a great little car.

I talk to you soon markjay / all.
Have good day ..
