Hi,
I've just installed a "Philips X-Treme Ultinon H7" LED-conversion kit in my C-class w204 -09.
I found that my car think it's a good idea to turn the light on the left side on/off, (10sec on & 5sec off).
Have anyone done the same upgrade and run in to the same problem?

Here we go again :

LED bulbs are road legal in the UK only if your vehicle's headlights were purpose built for LED's. Upgrading the technology from Halogen to LED is technically not road legal as they cannot be E-marked

A 2009 W204 has H7 halogen bulbs and reflectors designed for the light pattern of a halogen bulb. The reflector for a LED bulb is totally different. Search on here and you'll find plenty of previous threads/posts on this subject - including that it's an MoT fail!.

It is much cheaper - and legal - to change the crap MB standard bulbs to Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited, Laser Next Generation or similar from a different manufacturer (although most, me included, use Osram NB's).

Led or hid behind a projector lense you might get away with but never in a reflector .

Thanks for your replies giving me some input when it comes to the legal and moral side of the matter.
However as i posted this in the "Technical" part of the forum, I would appreciate a reply from some one with knowledge or experience that could give me some guiding how to solve it. (I'm sure it's not just depending on the missing E-marking).

No experience of doing that mod. Could it be due to the new bulb not being so called "canbus compliant". The bulb failure monitoring circuit (usually but wrongly called canbus) will be looking for a 55W current draw and if it sees something different may do strange things.

Swap the bulbs around to see if the blinking bulb is faulty? BTW it could be overheating, it's a known issue with LED conversion.

Ad yes, this LED conversion is not legal for use on public roads in the UK (and EU), and will fail MOT. But you already know that....

As above , the kit you have purchased may not be homologated for your car, and your cars electrical circuits are reading a faulty circuit

I doubt you will see a noticeable change in the light spread with a LED kit in a halogen reflector. But hey, it's your money and your time

Thanks for your input.
The kit is "canbus compliant", I did try to swap the bulbs left/right but got the same result.
There is a built in fan so i don't think it's because of overheating.
And the kit is intended for the W204:

I've put the question to Philips support but they haven't replied yet.
It's like I get some kind of "fault code" as it's running a sequence: on 10sec and then off 5sec...

And yes there is a noticeable change in light spread and light color compared to the Osram Night breaker.

As per the good advice you have been given already solving it is simple, remove them and fit road legal bulbs designed for you headlamps such as Osram Nightbreakers.

LED lights will give a diffuse and non focused light output in the headlamps of your car as they are simply not designed to work with LED bulbs. The lack of E marking as you know is proof that they are not considered road legal in the EU.

Sorry, forgot to give an update about the problem I had with my LED conversion kit.
After contacting Philips support I received two new "can bus boxes" as replacement for the ones delivered with the kit.
Problem solved!
