Hello everyone,

I'm in the market for a W205 and I'm very very picky on the spec, which is making my search difficult. The current deciding factor is which engine to go for.

Having done some research, I realise the 220d and 250d share the same engine in different states of tune, however is that 100% the only difference, the tune? And if so, should a good tuner not be able to bring the 220d and mapped 250d to the same performance number? Or am I missing some information there?

Also, is it also possible/wise to map the C300h, which I understand shares the same engine again?

Essentially, the perfect spec car is available in a 220d, however I would much rather achieve the performance of the 250d, especially a remapped 250d. The 300h would just be an added benefit.

**Edit** I have genuinely searched the forum for an answer but couldn't find it, please excuse me if there is an existing conclusive thread!

Thanks in advance,

Harri

I believe that the 250 has different injectors and bigger turbo along with different map.
My E250 has more bhp and torque measured after a remap than they were able to get with my wife's C220.
Both same year, but 220 wouldn't give as much.
Both confirmed on rolling road

I'm wrong, I've just checked the paper work and they came to the conclusion that the only items with different part numbers were the injectors.
They had a bigger flow rate.
So both cars have the same two stage turbo.
They got 214bhp out of the wife's C220 and 258 out of mine.
With 360lb/ft torque against 408 on mine.
Quite a difference

So around 40bhp and 40lb/ft, very useful information, thank you. Not noticeable every day I imagine, but it's nice to know it's there.

W205 C250 weighs 25kg more than a similar C220 ,have asked the question as to "WHY" on this forum but no suitable reply. So it's not just a case of tune it up and drive away. Certain components must be beefed up to cope with the extra HP and the 500nm of torque ??

The front brakes on the 250 are much bigger for a start

To be honest, I'd thought it odd that there were no other changes. If it starts to become driveline and brakes, as I'd expected, I'll hold out for the 250 I think.

Am I right in think Airmatic is a very rare option, and is it as good as all the reviews say?

Thanks again for your input guys, I can tell there's a lot of knowledge here compared to other forums I've been on
