W205 C250d Injectors

Hi guys, had a username for ages but finally about to purchase my first Mercedes!

Its a W205 C250 Estate Premium Plus in Diamond white, it’s a lovely car, quick question, my friend works at various prestige car dealers and told me to completely avoid the c205d because of injector and other engine issues? Very unreliable, he’s sold various coupe’s, e class’s and used sprinter vans and all of them have been very reliable and broken down, he suggested getting the c220d as they don’t have the same issues, I thought they were almost the same engine?

I can’t really see that they are from my research the OM651 engine seems pretty reliable compared to other of the same generation including from the W204.

Does anyone have any advice or long term reviews of this, recalls or information relating to the engine they can share?

Not had any issues with ours over the last four-years. Great car.

All of the W204s diesels built after about 2008 or 2009 had the OM651 engine.
The OM651 engine is the most produced engine in MB's history.

I don't think there is any evidence that the 250 CDI is any less reliable than any other variant.
A critical aspect is the service history and whether it includes using the correct spec oil.

Early OM651 had piezo injectors which I believe were problematic, but I don’t know the specifics. They were replaced with more conventional solenoid injectors, but this was before the W205 I think…

Hi. Considering buying a 2010 C220 CDI BE in good condition with 70k on the clock but have been reading a lot about injector problems. Is there a guide for what to look for visually when inspecting the engine to see if replacement for the solenoid type has already been done? I'm not massively...

That's my understanding too and this was well before the W205, around 2010 when the facelift W204 came out.

As above and why the W204 C250 CDI doesn't make it's stock figures of 204 hp and 500 Nm .
