All the manufacturers are going smaller capacity turbo plus hybrid routes.
There are a number of reasons including punitive taxes based on capacity as well as emissions taxes in far bigger markets than the UK.
An extreme example of this is the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso and GTC4 Lusso T the first being a 6.3 litre V12 the second a 3.9 litre win turbo V8. £30K price difference between the two in the UK but more than 100% price difference elsewhere that tax engine capacity of 4.0 or above.
It's part of the reason I bought an Audi S6 this year, it'll be the last V8 S6 made. The new ones will all be V6's even the RS6 will be a V6. All the other German manufacturers will follow.
The future is smaller capacity forced induction combined with electric motors. If you want a V8 or V12 time is running out, buy one now.
NOOOOOOOO!
Front shape of a Mondeo with a 1930s dollar grin grille shoved up its nose. Bloody awful.
An abject failure of style over substance and yet more evidence of a once great marque dumbing down to the God of market share.
I despair.
It may be of interest that Mercedes only offer the CLA version of the MFA platform in the States- no A class hatchback. 3 petrol "coupe"models offered CLA250, CLA 250 4MATIC, and CLA 45 AMG The only other FWD MFA model offered is the electric drive B class
