W209 cuts out on extreme full lock

We have noticed that if we use full left lock in reverse, the car cuts out and displays red battery warning. To restart we have to turn the key all the way off then on again after which it starts fine. Really odd! Just nuisance level, but curious

Dunno if the same thing, but my CL would often do this when parking up, with either front wheel on full lock.

Independent garage diagnosed "faulty contact on column" and spent 2 hours sorting it. No problems since.
