So, I have a 2000 E270 CDI. Last year i changed the alternator voltage regulator and also the battery, an original MB 100A Battery. There were no issues since then, but now the car has started acting up. Out of the blue the car dashboard and inboard lights (headlights too) will start flashing and then would stop on its own.
My aftermarket stereo has an inbuilt voltage reader (it reads correctly) and when it starts acting up the voltage will fluctuate, sometimes it will read +/- 14v, 12, 13, 13.5 etc etc, up to 17.9!!!! During this acting up phase the dashboard will become a Christmas Tree with all ABS BAS SRS and Overcharge warning lights.

I changed the stator as it was visually burned but after changing it the issue started again. As before it might go on for a few moments ore a few minutes and then charge fine at ~14.2.

It is a water cooled BOSCH alternator.

Any help would be grate since i'm running out of ideas.

Probably as Ted has said but also check to see if the free wheeling pulley on the Alternator is not going faulty

Today I changed the voltage regulator, the pulley was changed few days ago with the stator. Until now seems fine, let's see..

The thing I don't understand is why MB has made it so hard to remove the alternator from this car.
