Dear Fellow MB Enthusiasts,

I wish to know who does engine conversions for Mercs.

I drive W211 2007 220 CDI and W212 2013 250 CDI.

I want to convert the w211 to E55 AMG OR E63 AMG Engine.

Request a member to throw some light on the above.

Cheers
Sarfraz

You would be better off selling the W211 and buying the AMG. Just too many extras needed in addition to the engine. Such as gearbox, differential, brakes, suspension ....
I'm sure your insurer would look more kindly on the factory AMG!

Beat me to it!

Or maybe not....my friend converted his A8 2.8 V6 into a 4.2 V8.....it was cheaper to insure, through a modded car specialist, than my stock 4.2!

But either way.....the work and parts involved would mean that unless you have a donor car to swap everything from than its just not a financially practical conversion.....and even if you did you would still be better off selling them both a buying a proper AMG.

Thank you ALF for your reply.

Am a Mercedes collector, hence I dont sell my cars, I picked this W211 2007 which was only driven 34000 Miles with MBSH.

I've driven it past 60k Miles now and want to change the engine into an AMG.

But, as said, there is far more involved than just changing the engine. That alone would require a new fuel system, exhaust, wiring harness , ECU 's etc

In reality if you want in done right there are virtually no parts shared across the AMG and non AMG models........I stand to be corrected but I think even the body shell are different.....? As a collector you will realise that a non genuine AMG....will NEVER be an AMG and as such the value will be harmed compared to getting an actual AMG. Butchering a car that you say you never want to sell seems a bit odd to me.

By the way....one thread per topic is all you need!!!

Thank you, i will go by your advice and stay away from such a conversion.
