W211 Battery 10.4V, Boot wont open with key

Hello All,

The new genuine battery fitted last week is at 10.4 this morning. Will not start. Boot wont open remotely or with the key. I turn it left and right but nothing. Any suggestions?

Try spraying the lock with silicone spray and persevere with the key - it should eventually open unless the mechanism is broken. Sounds like you have a battery drain or alternator not charging.

Well if you do get in the car, it wont start on a dead battery. Charge it up fully and go frome there doing ypur checks .I think you have water in there .

At 10.4 volts the battery is dead flat and then some. It may day several days to fully charge depending on what charger you have. Could be a faulty battery, it happens even to new ones.

Thanks all. Will try silicone approach to unlocking boot. The battery died after I reconnected the dynamic seat pump fuse.

Have bought a NOCO battery booster pack so will go from there.

Will attaching battery pack to the aux battery at least allow me to unlock the boot

Also in regards to water, are you saying water is in the actual bootlid itself?

You are unlocking with the key "then" pressing the handle to open?

Yep, I turned key counter clockwise, then pulled handle and nothing. Then tried turning slowly whilst pulling handle and tadaa, it opened. One sigh of relief for now!

Oh My God. Just opened the dynamic seat pump horrible burning smell from it. Looks a right state too

The ground on the pumps soldering was no longer there and a lot of black soot. Whole room just stinks of it now.
