W212 Facelift Grill (saloon / coupe)

Afternoon folks, I've seen a lot of places advertising updated grill's for the E Class Facelift... one thing that stands out is that they all mention that the new items are suitable for SALOON and ESTATE models only.. Not the Coupe or convertible.. I didn't actually realise that the bumpers on these cars were different between the saloon and coupe platforms!!??

Dos any one have any experience of this or know of any further information?

The Saloon and Estate are built on one platform, the Coupé and Cabriolet on another. The front bumpers are not interchangeable between the platforms, and the W/S212 facelift grill will not fit a pre-facelift car or vice-versa.

That is correct, the Coupe and Convertible are the W207 platform, not the W212. The W207 is based on the C class platform.

They have similar looks to the W212 to make them part of the same range, but body panel wise I doubt any are interchangeable, same for interior. Its mainly mechanical parts like the engine which are shared components.

The exact model designation for the Convertible is the A207.

Many body parts from the pre-facelift to facelift also need changing and are not inter chageable. For example the grill's cannot be changed from one to other, the rear lights mean changing the rear bumper and so on.
