Recently purchased a W213 220d OM654. Vehicle has had a replacement engine and hasn’t done many miles since (less than 1,000 miles).
It drives absolutely fine, no issues other than when on idle it has this very odd stutter from anywhere between 10-30 seconds, then rights itself and runs as smooth as it should. Also today, when pulling out to overtake a lorry gave it full throttle, it was ok for a brief period then went into some kind of limp mode and wouldn’t do anymore than 70 or 3k rpm. Turning off and on rectified this issue until full throttle again and the same thing happened again. It has left a code of: P0101FA - Air Mass meter 1 has a malfunction.
Ordinarily I’d take it back to the garage who carried out the work and have them look at it, but they’re a 240 mile round trip away, so it’s not a simple case of just popping it back to them.
I should point out when driving normally it feels perfectly fine, no problems at all. The rough idle only occurs in neutral or park, ever in drive.
Anyone have any ideas? Could this likely be a loose pipe/air leak of some description.
