No stranger to spanners. Struggling to find a wiring diagram and part numbers.

Can see plenty of Mercedes ‘stationary heater’ key fobs online for sale though.

Would be for my W213. E400d. Living in a cold corner of Scotland. It’s nice to have a warm car to get into.

A bit spoiled if I am honest. As the Tesla Model Y has a precondition feature which I enjoy.

My budget is £2k for the project.

Awaiting your wasting your money comments… it heats up quickly…

Have you approached Webasto directly?
Hiya. Yes. I e-mailed two reps. One deals with marine mainly. Other has been unresponsive so far. I will keep looking. There was a guy in the US who did this mod. Different forum though. Might register and PM him. Cheers

Here's an installation in an LR Discovery 4, not mine, although I have one fitted:-

I’m on a commercial van site and a lot of people are using those cheap Chinese heaters most give good reports on them

I am interested in this, too - I did want to fit one of these to my S212, but it's now gone.

I'm not sure how far along you are but here a few points I can mention:

Do you have access to WIS/EPC? Has that helped narrow down parts list at all? You could either select your car from the list and see if it lists parts. If you search by your VIN, it won't show parts that aren't on your car?

How do you plan on fitting it? I believe you will need to do some online coding to enable the functionality in the car - I know in the Range Rover, you have timed climate with two timers. Practically speaking they would suit going to work, and coming home from work. You also have the Webasto remote start / telestart where you can start with a fob and/or mobile phone.

This is far from wasting money.... money very well spent in my opinion, and £2k is a solid budget. For luxury cars, I don't know why these aren't fitted more frequently. My 2007 Range Rover has one, I believe all the diesels of this vintage had them.

You might also get some good advice if you join a German MB group - I know they are quite popular on the continent as they get properly cold winters.

EDIT: Have you seen this?
