Bit gutted to say the least. Recently put coilovers on the c63 so was in need for a 4 wheel alignment anyway. Also my conti’s on the rear have pretty much bit the dust. The cars not a daily drive and to be honest I don’t get time to drive it even if I wanted to.But the wife had booked a long weekend away for us and the kids up the coast so I thought I’d book the car in for tyres and alignment and enjoy the drive up there rather than take the family wagon. As it happened I got a good quote from my local kwik fit for the lot but they would have to order the tyres in ( this was Tuesday) I rang on Wednesday and was told the fella I spoke to had forgot to order them but it was all on the system and they would be in Thursday. So I booked a time and took the car to work today rather than the van to make sure I got there on time.
When I got there they proceeded to fit both the new rear tyres. It was only after they’d fitted them I noticed everyone had disappeared and the workshop was empty, both my rear wheels sitting on tyre machines with new tyres fitted ( I was sitting upstairs looking at the workshop through the window) it stayed like this for 10 mins when the fella came upstairs with a sorry sad look on his face and told me 255/35/19 had been ordered instead of 255/30/19.

On closer inspection it appeared that my old conti’s had definitely bit the dust as the o/s was worn badly on the inside. So that’s put pay to me taking it for a blast the weekend.

No worries. I’ll get the alignment done take the wagon for the weekend and get the new tyres next week. Nooooo !! They couldn’t budge the bolts on the rear arms that alter the tow in !!

So got there at 4pm left at 6pm worse off than I was before I got there lol. So looks like I’ve got to buy two new rear arms as well now.

Sounds like my sort of luck, hummm glad im not the only one.

Kwik-twits standard response if the arms need anything more than a gentle tug to move. A proper garage will be able to free them off with penetrating fluid/heat.

To be honest my first port of call would of been wheels in motion but due to timescale I went there. Now I’m not in a hurry I think I will get the tyres and get booked in at wheels in motion and get it sorted properly. I’ve read they are very familiar with the c63 and even carry the offset bolts in stock that Mb sell for altering camber.

I see the problem here. :(

I spoke to a guy who services their alignment machine in my local one and he suggested a place around 10 miles up the road as, in his words: "They know how to use it"

I took the 190 to a local place for aligment and had the same "it's all seized mate" line. Ok fair enough but all the steering links/front wishbones etc had literally just been replaced - hence the alignment! They either couldn't be ****d or thought they could really stiff me

So took it to garage no.2 who managed to get the car just about drivable.

Then took it WiM who set it up properly.

My local Kwik-Fit is worse than useless - twice now it’s been in to realign my steering wheel after a rather large pothole/wheel interface and twice they’ve manage to make it worse than before.
Unfortunately as a company car Kwik-Sh!t are the appointed tyre dealers and they will not let M-B carry out the alignment......

Only saving grace is I sorted out a pretty good deal because they’ed Messed me around so I’ll still be buying the tyres from them just won’t be getting the alignment done. Only dilemma I have is the tyres that are on my car now are pretty buggered so do I have the new tyres put on before I take the drive up to WIM.
