Hi,
I know there are a few on the forum who have fitted sport brakes & changed the spare.
Has anyone managed to fit a normal full size wheel (ie alloy; not steel spare) into a 203 wheelwell & if so which plastic wheel well is needed?
If not, then which one do I need for a 17" spare please?
-I can't seem to find any specifics on a forum search.
I currently have a 17" full size spare in the boot, but was planning to get a 17" space saver if I can not fit a full size alloy in well.

Many Thanks,
Matt

Presumably the wheel has the same OD as the original? In which case it should fit in the well you have.

My well holds a "space-saver" spare but the only space it's saving is for a rather naff "storage system". The reason I have a space-saver is because front and rears are different widths.

With a change in the insert / covering in the load area a normal alloy would fit under the load floor lid.

My wheel well is very snug around the current collapsed spacesaver wheel(I think 15 or 16"), which is tiny compared to the 17" spare & non space saver tyre I now have.
So either way, I need a new wheel well; whether for a full size normal wheel, a non space saver spare, or even for a 17" space saver (in order of preference).

I would be happy to have a spare of the smaller width which could temporarily go on the back.

Any ideas on the well part number for a full size wheel?
Thanks

As whitenemesis has said I'm surprised this should cause a problem.

I had a 16" steel spare but since I did the brake conversion changed the spare to a 17" space saver. Fits in the wheel well fine even using the previous wheel retaining bucket.

Looking at the wheel well I have and considering it had a 16" steel I would assume that a full size 17" alloy would fit. Remember as you up size, maintaing the rolling radius means that the tyre becomes lower profile. Net effect is that the wheel and tyre should still be the same overall diameter as the current spare.

I had intended to go for a 17" spare however as I'm running a staggered 18" setup figured that it would be better to stick with the space saver option.

Ah! Now it makes sense!!

Yes the original wheel would be smaller because it is basically, erm, collapsed :o as in deflated. When in use it must be the same OD as the normal wheels.

In this case I think the only way is to get a new spare wheel well (as tudu did for his C200K), which I suspect won't be cheap (bodyshop labour..) :(

I thought the reason Tudu changed his wheel well was so he could fit a stonking exhaust system. I was under the impression that he changed the metal floor pan/well?
I was hoping I could just swop out the plastic insert for one with a bigger moulding.
Also A-AvantGarde & whitenemesis, my coupe floorpan may be different to your saloons/estate?

Yes you are correct that is why tudu changed the well but I was just mentioning it because he needed to change the whole thing.

I don't think there is an insert? It's a plastic moulding that fits through the floorpan? I can check when I get back to my pc...

And yes, your coupe will be different to the estate which is different to the saloon
