This is one for the experts...
I have just installed an Android head unit in my 2003 CLK55. Lovely clean install but whilst removing the telephone holder, I caught its wiring harness. As a result, I simply snipped the harness a little higher up the loom from the connector (perhaps 6 inches) to keep things tidy.
One of the things that I now have lingering now is whether or not the harness is actually live. Clearly not good to leave as is if so.
My train of thought:
- If the phone harness takes power from the original Comand 2.0, then I am fine because that is now disconnected.
- If the harness takes power from elsewhere, I do not want a wire that is not properly terminated. I will either find a way of making safe the connection or, better, trace the loom up to a point where I can disconnect it.
Any ideas?
I have a multi-meter but it isn't clear to me which wire will be + and which will be -. If anybody has the wiring diagrams, (and knows how to read them!) that would be great. Failing that, even guidance on colours would be appreciate to help test with the meter.
Thanks in advance...
