One of my xenons has gone purple ???
Bulb on the way out I guess. Is it an easy job or shall I let someone with a bit more brainpower and experience have a go ?

When you have done it once, then you too will be experienced.

Easy to do...keys put of ignition.

Yep easy to do-don't touch the bulb's glass and U should be fine.
I've just done mine yesterday went from 8000K to whiter 6000K.I don't know why but xenon bulbs are cheaper then standard.H7 22 quid in halford each,H7 xenons pair 10 quid.
Good luck

I think we are talking about HID lamps rather than disposable filament bulbs. Normally the HID burners are screwed in so might require the removal of the whole headlamp housing. Personally I'd get both done at the same time (might even be a legal requirement) to ensure the same colour light output but you can bet that if one goes the other will soon after!

If you have stock HID lamps I'd consider going to 6000s as they look "whiter" and more modern if technically less-bright (fractional).

H7 xenons won't be proper xenons will they ? they'll be retrofitted aftermarket ones ? a xenon lamp in a reflector designed for halogens ?

Without more info we don't know what the OP has!

If it's a standard incandescent bulb then it's a 5 minute job if it's an oem-style HID capsule then it's an afternoon's work for an amateur and maybe a couple of hours for a proper mechanic. If it's an aftermarket HID lamp fitted into a standard housing then it's probably quite easy as the HID capsules sit inside the stock housing like a consumable bulb.

Guys it's an avantgarde eclass with factory xenons

Hi,
Changing an OEM HID bulb should,nt take any longer than its Halogen equivelant.
As been said it is probably best to replace both, I believe 4300k was standard though I think you can go to 6000k anything higher than this is illegal I think.
I bought mine from E-bay less than £20 with free postage and packing.

Was referring to Borys's lights rather than the OP.
