Definately trouble. Budget for a new engine or engine rebuild as if the oil-pump isnt working, apart form the tappet problems, what other damage is slowly occurring that hasnt yet manifested itself as a major engine failure? A breaker only for me with that sort of leg, unless it is otherwise...

You would be surprised how many of the pre-HE lumps are sat in rusted wrecks just waiting for a buyer. Bought one for a daimler double-six about three years ago and gave £400 for it.

£3000 for the engine my eye. I know a fair deal about Jaguars and a 5.3 V12 is worth £1000 tops and for that, it has to be a low-miler from a very FSH car. Also, horrible undesirable colour, Kent alloys were never loved by the conoisseur and more suited to an old 4.2 daimler.

Had a look and I would retail that car at £5995. Privately I would aim for £4995 as on a car like an SLK, it has to be a big saving to persuade a buyer to buy privately without warranty etc.

Wouldnt touch it with a 100ft pole. There is no-way that has done the mileage stated, there is a reason service history isnt available usually. Check it on the VOSA MOT history thing or do an HPI with an NMR check.
