dash not working in clk200 w209

Did anyone get this sorted in the end? I spoke to my local dealers today (Vikings of Canterbury) who advised to try out my spare key. This appears to work fine - apart from lowering the steering wheel into position. He thinks it could be a case of just replacing the batteries in the key...

dash not working in clk200 w209

I went to get into my car this evening - I initially felt something was not quite right when I pressed the button on the fob to unlock the car. Usually my lights all come on - tonight only the internal lights did. Then I started the car and my steering wheel did not move down into position and...

    Share a winter tip

Ah I understand, but the boot on the CLK should mean I could put the weight plates directly over the rear wheels.....

More of a question than a tip..... My old man reckons you should put some weight in the boot of a rear wheel drive car to improve traction in the ice / snow. He then went on to suggest paving slabs - but unfortunately I don't have any of them spare. I think the mrs would go banzai if I...

    Watch winding wheel came out

The case back should turn with the stem in, but the dial (face of the watch with the numbers etc on) shouldn't be turning. Anti-clockwise should take it off.

    Tough old cars

Still see loads of old VW's - not so many mk1 Golfs, but plenty of mk2 and 3s plus Polos, Corrados etc still on the road. I saw an immaculate Renault 5 GT Turbo the other day and shortly after a 205 GTI 1.9 - it was like being in the mid 90's all over again.

    Watch winding wheel came out

Are you using a proper case removal tool? Is the stem in the watch? The movement will be able to move freely in the case if the stem isn't in. Admitedly, the case back shouldn't cause this to happen, but if the stem is in it will stop it - even if the stem isn't fully in.
