It can be done from a Blackberry, I did mine at the weekend. Enable the "business card function" on the car and then send the contacts from the Blackberry using Menu>Options>Bluetooth>MB Bluetooth>Transfer Contacts I am led to believe that you need the "cradle" (£262 from MB!!) to transfer...

It appears that the problem was due to me being a first class numpty! :o Despite prodding every button on the roof console several times, it seems I didn't manage to work out that the lights in question are in fact, the map reading lights. Doh! My daughter worked it out in 3 seconds...

Thanks for that artyman. Good to know the "error" message is nothing to worry about. Yes the light is on ALL the time, even when driving during the day with no headlights. I've had a look through the menu's, but not found anything yet. I'll have another look. I've only done about 50 miles so...
