CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

Yes! Those are much nicer, but I used to have a 159 on cloverleaf wheels and loved them, I think that might be what drew me to these!

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

For reference this is what the car looked like on 19s. I can't post in classifieds yet, but these will be for sale once I've cleaned them up

Very happy with them. Ride is noticeably better too. I still prefer the oe 19 turbine style, but these are definitely a close 2nd, and if they don't keep cracking every few months then I can definitely live with them! I did forget that when buying from that German eBay seller there would be...

Nice, thanks for this, I found a couple of handy things I didn't know about! The HOLD position for the brakes, and the bootlid shut switch!

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

Cheers, I've gone ahead and bought them! In retrospect I think I got a little dramatic when I first posted this thread topic... I was thinking I was going to be faced with a £2000 wheels and tyres bill every 12 months, I got a quote to sell my car and everything! 🤪 (also the quote was...

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

Hi, I'm really grateful for this information! I was scouring Ebay and Facebook marketplace for ages looking for something that would fit, but you're right, there's a lot more availability from Germany and even factoring in the shipping the cost is not too bad! (although shipping is more like...

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

Would it be a bad idea to change the rear tyre size to 275/35/19 (from 285/30/19)? I'm aware this would cause the speedometer to be slightly out, but gaining over 10mm sidewall height might help a bit with cushioning? Was thinking I could also increase the fronts to 245/40/19 (from 255/35/19)...

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

It's possible, not even 10,000 miles and the rubber has worn significantly more on the inside than the outside, gone past the limit indicators without me spotting it. The car is 7 years old and I've only had it 2 years, so I don't know it's whole history. I had 4 wheel alignment done each time...

They're not runflats at the moment, I don't think they were standard equipment? Cars not been remapped either, at least not to my knowledge

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

Yes, thanks for this. I'm considering dropping to 18s and going for premium tyres, thanks!

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

OK, thanks, I hadn't thought to look on Facebook marketplace. You say a square set up is possible then? If my current wheels are 19x8.5 et34.5 and rears are 19x9.5 et48, 19x8.5 et 34.5 will be OK to use all round? And if I drop a size, 18x8.5 et 34.5 OK all round too? If there's more options...

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

My 2016 CLS 220d AMG style shooting brake is starting to cost me too much money in upkeep...It's going through a set of rear tyres in 9 months (I do about 15,000 miles a year of mainly non-motorway driving), and just this year I've had cracks in both rear alloys. First crack I had welded, it...
