Can you renew an EVAP solenoid or does it have to be replaced?

My EVAP purge solenoid is quite noisy, the classic tick tick tick they do. No trouble codes and no obviously split piping and clamps are tight around it. Is there anything you can do to recondition them rather than just buying a new one? They are not expensive but don't want to waste money if...

M266 poor idle and low speed hesitation

Just to update my own post should anyone get similar problems. My problems were resolved by renewing the coil pack spark plug leads. Also the noise I'm hearing is normal and turns out to be the EVAP purge solenoid doing its thing.

Can Mercedes Benz Survive in UK market ?

Ahhhh so that's I'm guessing why MB are not doing motability this year??? Nothing like motability to bring a ton of used 3 year old vehicles to the network. I wasn't even remotely tempted anyway, £1600 advance payment on an A class! You can get a Honda E for zero advance payment, a £30k car but...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Yeah I do believe in some additives, I will tell you now Lucas stop slip has kept the knackered autobox in my mums/family old hyundai for years now. Yes there are dangers of increasing oil viscosity too much or too little. But just as you say if something works for me and I'm happy to pay for...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Speet-Tec isn't an octane booster, this has been made clear from the start! So could it contain a chemical that v-power doesn't or a higher amount..... that would be an aid to providing a better flame front or burn.......possibly? I think this is why their claim is basically just mid range...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Thanks for coming to my aid, there's just a lot of people that are saying it's nothing but snake-oil. I think they are a great brand, I haven't even heard my timing chain since I used one of their oil additives and my oil temps are always lower

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

I already use Shell V-Power 99 Octane, and that's with an engine that can run on 91 and I don't have a clue how Mercedes-Benz mapped that Siemens ECU but I doubt I get any timing advance past 95 because that's probably where they set it. I don't think we'll see anything better than Shell V power...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

I can't be ****d either because as I say it's a debate that will rage on forevermore. Maybe a couple of people go try it and see what they think? The science behind what's shown in the video is undeniable I guess to a point, and there are, as said, many many variables to what engines would...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Have been using two w169's one an A160 for a little while and then an an A150 both with the same M266.920 engine. Have driven thousands of miles under different temperatures, driving conditions etc. Very used to how the engine feels and operates, it's response to throttle etc. Then felt a...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 on Amazon from a source of 507 Global ratings. Rated very high with Google but only from a sample of 11. Don't forget this is a product that could benefit someone much more than someone else. If you have a brand new Mercedes with direct injection and amazing technology then...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

What is there to be measured, it does not increase horsepower or torque remember. Read the reviews for the product, which are very positive . Have a look how it works; Don't forget Alfa Romeo used the twinspark system so they could run with AFR's not usually workable because being able to...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Do your own research on the product, might not be around forever because I know there are concerns about naptha/naphthalene. I'd say Liqui Moly is one of the more reputable brands and if I was going to believe anyone I'd believe them. If you think about my particular case, a M266 engine which...

M266 poor idle and low speed hesitation

Sorry just to add my research tells me that I need I need to do my OBD graphing based on whether I have a narrow or wideband o2 sensor. I'm not sure which I have there are many I could see, but I THINK it may be the Bosch 4 wire sensor which is wideband? One thing I should say is that there has...

M266 poor idle and low speed hesitation

Thank you for your reply. Does anyone know if I were to do some graphing with Torque Pro what sort of figures I should be looking at to identify a faulty sensor? I'm aware that there are voltages that I can monitor.

M266 poor idle and low speed hesitation

Hi All, I desperately need help diagnosing a problem with my 2009 Mercedes A150 with the M266 petrol engine just hit 90k. It's driving me mad because I have no fault codes and there seems to be no obvious reason for it I can see. It is also a bit random with some days better than others. When...

    Disable ESP without speed limiter?

Nope, absolutely no physical buttons. No menu items for ESP either only way is through the service menu which then turns off ABS, ESP, TPMS, ASR all together and then imposes a top speed limiter. I'm assuming pulling any fuses would result in the same. Why they didn't give the W169 any button...

    Disable ESP without speed limiter?

Hi All, My sister and her boyfriend want to go to Germany for Oktoberfest and I've always fancied a mild lap of the nurburgring. In the w169 A class there is no button to turn off the traction control or stability control. You can go into the service menu and put it into a dyno testing mode...

Is it worth trying a petrol additive?

Also no point using fuel additives such as Redex etc in direct injection engines as the fuel and additive won't be going through the valve. So not only ineffective but also as you pointed out potentially damaging. Personally I've always used Shell 99 V Power despite having a W169 A Class with...
