    AMG A35 Owners Thread

When I got mine I worked out that it would save me a little with the plan so I went for it. I also felt it was worth it as it will guard against any increase in servicing prices. I was surprised it was only £29 to be honest as I think that's the same across the whole A-class range.

Yep, no heat shield or insulation on mine either.

    AMG A35 Owners Thread

Agree, except for me the cost would have been £1935 as it would have pushed the VED value over £40K! Hope I don't regret not speccing it ...

    AMG A35 Owners Thread

I think the £25 for number plates is included in the £660 delivery fee. Looking at my order form, which specifically lists the "VED list price", it's the cost of the car + options + delivery (£660) and nothing else. Roadfund license/First registration fee at £585 is the only other item on the...

Just ordered mine! Premium Plus in Denim . Was going to wait a bit longer but figured the deals around now might not be bettered for a while, plus there's a risk should MB increase prices a bit at some point it'll put it above the VED threshold. Being told June delivery at the moment ...

Just found out the adaptive dampers does push the price over £40K (by 70 quid I think!) so I'll have to make do with the standard set up. I thought the delivery charge wasn't included in the VED calculation but apparently it is so with Premium Plus the only option I can have is metallic paint...

I'm undecided on the "half and half". The fact the "Artico leather" parts aren't real leather puts me off a bit and I wonder how well the inner "Dinamica" bits would wear compared to leather. It did look quite good from a distance in the B-Class they had in the showroom. The A35 we drove had...

It was pretty much as I had expected, really, in that it drives as well as the Golf R but is nicer and more "techy" inside. This one didn't have the ride control and the ride seemed to be marginally better than in my (standard dampers) Golf despite the Golf having 18s and the Merc 19s. It's hard...

Surprised! I called in to a dealer today and didn't even know if they had an A35 in - I just happened to be driving past. 10 minutes later I was driving one! Perhaps it helps if you turn up in a Golf R ... :p

The A35 definitely does - I used them today!

I currently run a Golf R on 18s with passive dampers and have always found that fine (the odd pot-hole excepted!) . It would be interesting to try A35 demos both with and without but I doubt that'll happen (I suspect most demos will be on 19s as well which adds another variable into the...

Anyone have an opinion on whether the AMG Ride Control is worth having? Could be quite important to the dynamics of the car. Do the demonstrators typically have this or not?

Also looking to go from our (un-modded) Golf R ... I wonder when the dealers will start getting their demonstrators?

    A Class & HUD Option

Great to hear they're willing to do deals already! I'm really keen to order one to replace my wife's Golf R but will need to wait until we can test drive one - hopefully not too long! I'm having a job speccing one for under £40K though (don't want to get stung for the ridiculous RFL surcharge)!

SLK (W171) Wind Deflector Storage Bag

Black zipped storage bag for W171 wind deflector and accesories. Pretty much "as new" as we never used it (but forgot to include it when we sold the car!). Complete with (creased) wind deflector instruction booklet. Happy to sell it for cost of postage. Otherwise will be thrown away. Reply...

COMAND crashes on postcode entry, and radio problems

Thanks for the replies, guys. It is a hard disk based unit. The postcode crashing symptom is very consistent : From the enter destination screen in NAV, move the cursor to postcode entry. As soon as the knob is pressed to select, the screen goes blank, radio goes off (if it's working!), and...

COMAND crashes on postcode entry, and radio problems

Hi We've got a MY08 SLK, and since new we've had problems with COMAND. 75% of the time, if you enter a post code into the sat nav, the whole unit crashes and reboots. Another irritation is that half the time you can't pick up any radio stations (on any channel). This isn't a reception issue...

    MB Dealer salesman

I'll second the comments about MB Swindon. Ordered a new SLK from them and they were excellent (even before they knew were were serious buyers). Contrast with our other local dealer, strangely part of the same group, where we spent two hours with the salesman, test drove two cars, filled out a...

    SLK Facelift

Spoke to a dealer yesterday. Will start taking firm orders in a few weeks weeks and expects deliveries to start early May. Stuck a deposit down to reserve an early build slot "just in case" . ;) They didn't have a price list or option list yet but don't expect either to change much from the...
