Hey all. I need to replace the wing mirror glass and have been quoted £348 from Mercedes!! Has anyone used an alternative? The car is a 2014 SL63, so its heated and dimmable, that being said, if I can have a regular glass attached for the time being it would help right now!
Thanks for the help all. I ordered a set from Mercedes Edinburgh via eBay, £97 inc delivery and arrived the next day! Local dealer wanted £106 and would have meant a 40 mile round trip, so happy with the result I suppose. Never paid that for wiper blades before, I imagine the ones on the...
Hey guys.
I'd like to swap out the tail pipes for a set in black, I think they'd really suit the colour scheme of the car. But the only ones I've found are on eBay for over £1000! Are there any other places worth trying? Has anyone tried having them painted?
Hey all. My wiper blades need replacing. Ordered a set from EuroCarParts but when they've arrived they don't have the small holes for the washer fluid to come out. Where is the best place to buy the correct blades? I have a feeling you're going to say dealer only and therefore I better go and...
I've only got a print out showing the service history, not what was carried out at each service. Is there a way to get hold of that info? Just have to call a dealer and ask what's on their system?
Hey all. Had my SL about a month now and loving it (my first AMG) One thing I've noticed, the gear change can be a little abrupt when it's cold. Not noisy, clunky or anything, just not as smooth. Particularly 1st to 2nd to 3rd. Is this normal? Would it benefit from a gearbox fluid change...
Yeah pretty much answered my own question! :D Maybe I should put it in manual and leave it in 6th until it warms up. I did notice the owners manual says not to warm it up by leaving it idling, I imagine this is no different!
Hey all. Really enjoying my first AMG experience (R231 SL63) I do have one query. I've noticed the oil temps can take quite a while to get up to temp and not sure if this is normal (or a suggesting of a thermostat issue) It can take a good 20mins of driving for it to get into the 80's (UK...
In my opinion updating it to add a little volume, add a bit more theatre / emotion to the driving experience is not "chavving it up" My idea of chavving it up would be slamming it on its ****, wrapping it in gold, fitting neons underneath and tinting all the lights so they're all next to...
Ive seen the article, I’ll believe it when I see it. Just can’t see how it would work in reality. And where does it stop? Brake pads, tyres? How will they know what was on from new for every model of car out there? But maybe it’s wishful thinking as my other car (below) has very few factory...
Hey all
Thought I'd post some before and after pictures of the interior trim on my R231 SL63. One thing that I really didn't want was the silver trim set, much preferred the piano black, carbon or black ash. Typically when I found the ideal car, that was the one thing it didn't have! So as...
Hey all
Kicking myself as when I got home after collecting the car I noticed the owners wallet with manual etc were all missing (excitement of driving home and I didn’t check it over!)
Dealer says they can’t find it. I really want to get hold of one. Is there anywhere I can get one from? Are...
Hey guys
Just been into the boot of my newly acquired R231 SL63 and its pretty much bear :( No jack, no towing eye, nothing. Although it does have a canister but no pump. I'm keen to source a jack and towing eye, where is the best place to get these bits, ideally and not be bent over?!
Yes will do. I've just called my insurance company (Admiral) aside from a £25 admin fee, no additional cost to adding this to the policy. Same for a set of wheel spacers.
I've got an appt with Powerflow on Friday for them to scope the work. According to their website it would cost between...
MSL are only about an hour from me. It will give me a chance to talk about the car, see what these guys are about. I need to find myself an indy to use for this, these guys could be a good fit.
