smoothness

Hi everyone,my car is a 2006 C200 CDI SE auto,this is my first auto car,but i was wondering how smooth should the gear changes be?i find it quite jerky,is it the way i'm driving it?is it the way it is?or could there be something wrong,it's only done 31k,i would be grateful for any advise,Thanks.

Hello, didn't want to hijack this thread http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=67937 then I open another one, Where can I look/ see/ check the vaccum lines / actuator (whats that?) on the E300TD? Just wonder as my gear box as a kind of rough change sometimes. I mentionned it before...
