£100 for a cardboard box anyone?

box

not that daft,a friend of mine bought a sony 42" plasma for £850 from ebay ,he only bought it as it came with the origional box and packaging.it had a cracked screen when he bought it.when it arrived he then resent it to a friends house, then contacted the courier company to say it was damaged in transit,4 weeks later he got a cheque for £3950 from their insurance company..not honest i agree but he had a smile on his face when i found out..

I love that idea... don't know whether I would have the morals to do it though.

A: I think that's immoral and
B: doesn't the box have the item serial number on?

If the tv is written off by an insurance company then the courier will NOT pay out as they are aware of this scam.

Payouts are subject to claw back. You would be amazed how often people brag about such things and how it eventually trails back to the affected party.

One very large Hifi store in Sydney loans out the used gear to let people try it out. One particular patron borrowed a Linn turntable and then gave it back with a broken cartridge.

The friend of this person was quite happy to put down the poor store owner by relating the story sans details as some kind of joke. They were just joking around and telling stories. But the truth became apparent in the end.
