Well my car has just gone over 100,000 miles and I've put over 95,000 of those on it myself and with the exception of service items and tyres the only things that have needed changing are drop links, upper and lower suspension arms (and I put that down to the naff roads I used to travel over to get to my old job) and the breather hose on the super charger.

The only other car I've put this amount of miles on was a Rover 214 and at the same number of miles it had needed a water pump, head gasket (head needed skimming) and a gearbox.

So all in all I can't complain with the running costs of the Mercedes and hope the next 100k are as uneventful ;)

Great. I am 2yrs and 16500 miles into my W212 200 CGI (had it from 14miles on the clock). I plan to keep it for the next 6 years at least. With my current yearly mileage, I reckon I'll have covered less than 50,000 miles by the time the car is 8 yrs old.

I was caught in 2 minds and was thinking to change it after 3 years at the end of the PCP as is in vogue nowadays but your story has reassured me that keeping it long term is the right thing to do.

Have you ever changed the cam chain ? If its never been changed then I get it checked . I have been told they can stretch in as little as 40k . My car with the same 271 engine as yours is on its 3rd cahin .
