I would say to 90% of buyers 4matic is a bad thing. The 300 petrol is a highly underated engine in my opinion, they are smooth fast and reliable.

The diesels are great in their own way, but not too economical in my experience.

24v petrol is a favourite of mine though.

Its too expensive, but good S124 are rare now, and getting a duffer up to scratch is increasingly expensive.

It doesn't have AC as claimed in the ad. EPC says not 4MATIC.

I didn't see reference to 4matic or air con in the advert - but today I have been to spec savers, and pick up my new gogs later in the week......

Mpg 35 - 37 in my 24v Diesel saloon. Never bettered 40 yet.

Compared to say a modern diesel hatchback, the fuel consumption appears poor. However, considering the size of the car plus the efficiency loss due to auto transmission, to me its acceptable. My previous 2.6 190e guzzled fuel especially if you booted it (not bad on a run though if you kept to 60mph max.)

My diesel allows me to use the car as a daily driver, which if it were petrol, I probably would struggle to justify the weekly fuel bill.

I have managed 45mpg from my s124 e300d from london to wales (all at 55mph) driving like a granny just to see how much it could do. The datasheet that came with my car showing around 42mpg at 90kph and 36mpg at 120kph is pretty accurate though.

Running mine on 16" 210 Alloys with 215 60 16s. This will not help I'm thinking. Have also had it decated at the back and taken the middle box out. Sounds great and is a touch punchier on power. If I put the car back to standard and drive like Morethan Freeman I may do better. Guess what - Staying as it is.

I'm happy with 35 -37 it pays me back in some many other ways.

I like the noise of them, had a 300D manual and it was great

Why do you care, the car looks lovely otherwise it wouldn`t have a big picture on the Gazette

That was not mine Dash. This is mine. In need of paint work at the mo.

Also in need of a Facelift part wooden steering wheel too. Got any in stock?
