2.1l Diesel does not like idle for long periods

Missed that.....

....the only time my diesel EVER smoked was when there was a split in one of the intercooler hoses....It still ran fine with no codes but only about half way up the boost gauge....I could not even hear it leaking until I got under the car and got my son to rev it. Might be worth a look.

Read on of my posts, lack of power no code, or something like that.

I nearly pulled all my hair out. But sounds similar to yours.

Only smokes from cold when idling for a long period feels like it is choking and not breathing right.

Same on the go will only smoke after driving economically when you 1st give it WOT. Runs crystal clear therafter. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wont be my split pipe issue then....only smoked under power.

It seems as if on low throttle / idle it is just choking itself up then when you give it beans it is struggling until it clears itself. Hoof it all day long and it goes no problem just on gentle driving if seems to suffer.

Limp mode after short runs or lack of a decent warm run? Mine was a DFP regen issue due to low battery voltage. A new battery and clearing the codes followed by a 40 minute drive got my 250CDI back to normal.

Fired a bottle of injector cleaner in and a full tank of v power diesel and it has been brand new since 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pulling like a train. No smoke.

So was it a partially blocked injector or just rubbish Tesco diesel 🤔

fyi i have used tesco diesel since purchase 22k miles ago and it has always had the hiccup when 1st hoofing it however this is now gone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Who knows buddy, but if this cures it, it's a nice cheap result.

I will say I tend to stay away from supermarket fuel in preference of whatever is the cheapest named brand near to me. I also for the majority of fills add in some diesel treatment, and definitely on the occasions I use supermarket fuel.

I used to use Redex, but found Archoil on offer and much better value on Amazon.

Yeah it is just nice to actually drive along and feel i am in a Mercedes after 2 years and not a tractor. Will stick with the VPower Diesel from now on. I will just have to get it on the route to work [bit of a diversion] as the local town only has Tesco and an independant which i have no idea what fuel they use.

I used to use Millers years ago. Will either be a combo of regular Shell and an additive or the vpower.
