2000 c180 classic
hi mb club so i have a 2000 c180 while out and parked up i started my car no issue but transmission wouldnt come out of park then cluster lights were comming up and the fan started reving at high speed.we were stumped and car wouldnt start after a few times but once i got it going i manually put the gear lever in gear and drove home and noticed the gears didnt change but i got home in the end a month later i bought a battery thats charged at 12.4 or 5 drops to 11.35 when cars starting hope thats still good as i heard that it could be the battery ..car still starts but most of the time it only starts fine with the headlights on. sometimes if i wait a little the ignition would start without the headlights on also the power to my cluster would drop every 2 seconds sometimes the fan would randomly come on if the head lights are off after starting..i am ordering a break switch as the esp stays on hopefully this could be the fix but im not convinced the next option would be the relay but i dont see my transmission comming out of park..is it possible that i have a circuit failure in my shifter also would that cause the above troubles especially the starting.. i read the shifter has no display when faulty which is the case would i have to reprogramme shifter if i buy another one for my model 2000 c180 classic i hope this makes scents thankyou for any help ps i tryed ti get a scan but it wouldnt read it

VIN NUMBER PLEASE- Sounds as if your car has a global fault that's causing a drop in voltages . This can vary from basic alternator/battery /earth strap problems----canbus problems - supply shorts to earth/water ingresss / control unit failure [ such as the following---gear selector switches/ ignition switch/immobiliser / seat occupancy sensor/ door switches etc pulling down voltages. You need to get the car on an MB STAR diagnostic system

ps most code readers need the ignition on to work
