HI All
I put u , p a post a month ago about auto box issues , its a 5 sp auto C180 petrol 2 litre , and bought with a unbeknown to me a bodged electrical pin connector , the bit the wiring loom plugs in previous owner had snapped the 7mm bolt and stuck it back in with sealant tucked up behind the metal cover , cut along story short i lost alot of gearbox oil until lost all drive , i put in new oil and filter and gasket thinking it was sump gasket but happened again to the fact you have to increase revs to pull away and on a hill it now rolls backwards , although reverse is fine and holds car on a hill , driving along it will slip out of gear into neutral and go into limp mode ,i removed oil again and sump and notice fine metal patricle in bottom of sump pan , is this end of the road or will changing valvebody , conductor plate and solenoids i can source 2nd hand from a merc breakers for 70 quid and fresher oil and filter

I'd say it's toast, looking like the clutch and brake bands have suffered.

Very unfortunate to fix other people's bodge jobs...
If you are confident why not go for a good second hand box , some on ebay for as little as 200 quid .

at a long shot valvebody ,fresh oil and additive?
in reverse it works perfect ,could it be low oil pressure when 1st is engaged and possible a working valvebody would remedy , dont fancy a gearbox change if possible

Hi. It looks like its a gonner. Bet that all the bushing are knackered and no matter what you do now it will be losing pressure. Your clutch pack are burn now, thats first thing to go when there is loss of oil pressure in the auto transmission.
I would buy second hand box. Dont waste your money on buying parts and chaging oil in this one as its not going to work.

still on going but a little hopeful , just to cap it all after leak in transmission and losing quite a bit of fluid lost drive , and when filled to max mark , reverse worked well but forward gear would roll back on a slope and revs increased to get it to pull away and would suddenly go out of gear and go into limp mode , i purchased a tested 2nd hand valvebody and conductor plate , some of the lucas snake oil as some call it and some transmission flush , so far i fitted the valvebody+conductor plate and refilled fresh transmission oil and started it up to move the car a little and already noticed soon as i engaged 1st car pulls forward on idle and holds on a slope , no roll back.
My plan is to flush the transmission empty both sump and torque convertor , remove sump to make sure no particles are in their , then another lot of fresh transmission oil ,and new filter but leave the snake oil out. but feeling confident its going to drive well.
Just a big thank you for all advive above
