Hi everyone,

Within the last couple of weeks my car has started cutting out after refueling.

Following a refuel it will dive normally without any problems but as soon as I accelerate hard it simply cuts out and the engine warning light will come on. After coasting to a stop I can restart the engine with no problems whatsoever and it will drive fine so long as I avoid hard acceleration. After around 50 miles (my journey to work) it will drive absolutely perfectly with no engine light and will continue to do so until the time comes to refuel (about 1 week) at which point the whole cycle starts again. I have also noted that it does not make any difference if I fill the tank up or just half fill it.

The only other thing to mention is that I changed the fuel line O rings about 2 years ago to fix a poor cold starting issue but it has run perfectly since then till now.

You need to get some live data, it could be EGR or it could be fuel pressure. But without some data it is gonna be hard to find prime cause.
The Warning light as a minimum will be setting a code this should be the starting point.
when was fuel filter last changed?

Thanks for the reply.
I will try to borrow a code reader and find out the code.
I believe the fuel filter would have been changed on the last service which was an 'A' service, the next service is due in 1000 miles.
I do however find it hard to accept that the problem is down to a faulty component such as the filter due to the very specific time that the issue occurs.

OK, I have just read the fault code and it says 'P0251 Generic Injection Pump Metering Control A'
Hopefully someone will be able to tell me what this means.

Thanks.
