E280 CDI Avantgarde Diesel 2006 W211
My early 2006 CDI E280 W211 has an amber engine light showing with no message. I connected a reader to the CAN bus and it showed me P2009 and P0243. The odd thing is that P0243 is for a turbocharger solenoid and the CDI doesn't have a turbocharger. Anyone any thoughts?

Ah, OK! Thanks, makes sense now.

Any idea where it is and where to get a reasonably priced replacement?

When you say solenoid do you mean the actuator? common fault on w211 cdi i had a misdiagnosis from a so called specialist , told me i needed a new turbo turned out to be the actuator, symtoms were no kickdown yet car still seemd to drive great didnt realise turbo wasnt spooling! i used a company called BBA Reman in Kent £200 is like new and guaranteed, send the old part to them next day service

I think they are the same thing. I have no Kickdown any more. Boo hoo... Only driven a couple of hundred miles since I bought it.

The turbocharger is the large silver object right in front of the heat reflective shield on the bulkhead!

Diesel cars have routinely been turbo-charged for many many years, without the turbocharger you would have very limited performance.

I have no idea about Mercedes specialists close to Dublin, but you really need someone who knows these cars to sort out your problem.
Hopefully one of our Irish members may know of somewhere.

I took it to D&S Services in Swords and they diagnosed component M55 Inlet port shutoff motor short-circuited. They said it was a common problem, oil comes past a failed seal and drips down onto it causing it to fail electrically. Costs 220 Euros for the part and 3 - 4 hours labour. Probably 650 Euros total - 600 quid! Jeepers! They put in an updated design seal that stops it happening again.
