2006 ML350 Front Differential

I have just been given the bad news that the front differential needs to be replaced after 51000 miles to resolve a grinding noise from the front of the vehicle.
It seems that this is a frequent problem in the USA with 2006 models but I don't seem to find many UK postings.
Have others had a similar problem with a UK vehicle and what response did you have from the MB dealership?

Never heard this one, but IIRC yours is an M272 engine. Research timing gear failure and worn timing gear to get enlitened to the route ahead.
