2008 ML 320 Cdi

Hi there, hope everyone is well. I've bought another Mercedes today as decided (another) old Merc is a better option than a replacement company car. It's a 2008 W164 ML 320 CDi, seems brilliant but a couple of newbie questions if you don't mind. Firstly, do they have brake hold (doesn't seem to do it so hoping not something amiss) and secondly, sometimes when putting it into Park (only done about 75 miles so far, but this is different to my S320 CDi W221, 2009) the tickover picks up and holds at about 1k. Put back into D, and it drops again, so is this an oddity or something amiss? Thanks in advance

missing hold function is often caused by problems in gear selector, cannot comment 2nd, never heard such behavior...

Thanks Mersum, I haven't as yet plugged in the carsoft which may shed some light, just wondering if some models didn't have
