2012 Mercedes c250 amg steering wheel ecl unit failure.

Hiya Guys its Rakz Uk Manchester Today i have encountered a fault on my 2012 Merc c250 amg, the steering wheel ECL unit failed, leaving me with no Dash lights when keys are turned into position 1 or 2 and no startup on 3, gladly the steering is not locked qhen the motor failed in the ecl unit which meant i call a vehicle locksmith out who took the electrical clip out from behind the ecl unit, as it is a ball ache to take out ecl unit, he then plugged this clip into a new black box which is an emulator box and repropgrammed my 3 keys to the new emulator box and bobz ure uncle all worked, emulator boxes he had was £50 from ebay and he he charged me £200 including emulator box and was complete in an hour, if your steering wheel lock was on the dash has to come out, steering wheel hast come out and trims and plates this would cost around £500 with emulator box, to saw the pin locking the steering wheel and labour hrs of 4 to 5 hrs. Please do not fit an oem 2nd hand box as this is prone to possibly cost you £500 if it fails with steering lock on, just have it bypassed whilst in situ like ive done, if this helps anyone then you have made my day, as i spent a week researching the right route P.s the Mercedes Stealership wanted £899+vat to sort this out.
