2013 C63 AMG Coupe
hi guys,

does anyone know if the 2013 c63amg comes with the start/stop Eco function ?

cheers steve

I know it sounds an odd question but I think I am right in thinking that the new e63 amg and cls63 amg have this function....which is slightly odd !

I'm not sure it makes much sense to fire up something this big so often, apart from the manufacturers do this to meet emission target.

...but it would sound good though!! I think on one of Chris Harris video, he did mentioned the ClS63 have this function.

My 2013c63 didn't have it but my Sl63 has. Although I use it to commute I find it annoying and turn it off.

AFAIK the start/stop and cylinder deactivation is only on the new bi-turbo AMG

i test drove a new ml at the weekend that had it, omg how annoying. I hope it is something that can be turned off perm as that is going to get annoying. if i was that concerned about economy i wouldn't be buying a 2 ton 4x4 box on wheels...

AFAIK the NA V8s have cylinder deactivation and start stop.

The Bi turbos have start stop only, my pending E63 AMG does anyway.

Starting a car uses no more fuel these days. Direct injection just injects in the appropriate cylinder at compression and it fires, not a single drop wasted.

I like SS, looking forward to lots of varrrrompppaahhhhhhbooommmm in traffic in the E63 :)

Just wait till some pedestrians walk behind your car...

YOu might be disappointed when it fires up from stop it doesn't go varrrrompppaahhhhhbooommm unless you gun it which is unlikely in traffic. Really annoying!

I was next to a new bi-turbo CLS the other day which seemed to have start stop and it sounded really nice on start-up. I have only had it on C class loan cars and have to say I think it's really annoying and switch it off straight away. Maybe people get used to it.

The bi-turbo on stop start is a lot more muted than when you fire it up from cold. The bi-turbo is also a lot quieter than the normally aspirated until you get the revs up. That said its still sounds good at low revs just not as good as the c63.

Agreed c63's sound great, and to me the nicest sounding normal(ish) amg's. I wish my E55 sounded like a C63! To me though the new CLS still sounded nice, maybe because mine is just too muted so I hanker for that raspy V8 growl!

Nothing like that v8. The bi is really good under full chat it shuts down two or four cylinders to make it pop on the up shift and the high rev down shift really burbles.
