Hi Guys

Just a quick one.

Did Mercedes fit AMG badges to AMG line cars? I have a new to me CLS250 2014 model and on the left of the boot there is the CLS250 badge and on the right is an AMG badge. If its factory fit I will leave it, but if not I intend to remove it as I don't like aftermarket badges etc.

cheers

It didn’t leave the factory with an AMG badge on the boot lid but now that it’s there, unless it’s at a jaunty angle or irritates you, then just leave it be. It will have AMG badges on the wheels, mats and no doubt somewhere else, so one more won’t hurt.

It has it on the interior mats but no where else. Anybody know if these were fitted as standard? If its aftermarket its going!

Don't worry about it , MB have been sticking AMG badges on all sorts of cars for years now. I think they have a factory in China that makes nothing but AMG badges.

We could argue that my own 2006 C55 AMG is not an AMG because AMG was completely take over by MB Daimler in 2005.

It's always a lively debate , but life's too short . :thumb:

If you don’t like it just remove it

Mats would be original. My 2014 C Class estate had AMG branded mats, AMG branded wheels and an AMG badge on the steering wheel, all factory fitted.
On a 1.6 petrol !!

The answer that most are avoiding is NO...its not factory fitted. They are only factory fitted on "proper AMG" models..so that models with a 2 digit number....so E63, A45, C55, C36 etc etc.....not E350, A200, C220 etc etc etc. Take it off.....IMO. First thing I did on my E350 CDI....even though its a proper "Sport" so came with real AMG mats, AMG 18 inch wheels etc. Lots of real factory AMG parts fitted to a std car does not an AMG maketh!!

That's an Executive Order. Fail to comply, and you will be executed...
Surely as you would now be a criminal you will be invited to join the administration

But, if it’s a post, late 2013 car, it can be an AMG Sport, does that make it an AMG? 😆

Depends how you define an AMG. Many people consider that a true AMG has an engine assembled at Affalterbach, and anything else is not a true AMG, it's an 'AMG Line'. By the same token, a BMW M car - M3, M4, M5, and so on - is not the same as one bearing an 'M Sport' badge.

I own a 2006 C55 AMG. But by definition it is not an AMG as AMG sold their last shares to Daimler Benz at least a few years earlier. I am also the custodian of a 2008 SL63 AMG.

But , at least, my car (and the SL) was/were built in Bremen and the engine was assembled in Affalterbach (for what its worth) not like the last slew of (since 2017) C63’s that were built in East London ……South Africa.

Personally I would say that the only ‘real’ AMG’s were the Hammer cars from the late 80’s , early 90’s.

Just my opinion

Hmm.......surely who owns the AMG name is irrelevant.... it still an AMG.... otherwise it's like saying its not a real Rolls Royce since VW bought the company....which it clearly is (and vastly improved thanks to VW cash IMO). So I'll stick to the fact (rather than opinion) that the two digits cars are AMG so C63, A45 etc....and three digit are not....so E350 E500 etc.....cuz that's what Mercedes say.
