The front lozenge Audi / Peugeot cross black grill no the front looks a step too far.

Interesting that they've actually gone and done the logical thing with the console now that they're using graphical displays for dials - and stuck the nav in there and left the centre console so that it could be uncluttered - and then totally blown that oportunity by recluttering it with messy vents :fail

Looks like a facelift instead of a whole new model.

Can't see how this puts MB to shame unless I'm missing something? :dk:

The one thing I will give Audi credit for is making A new model smaller than the one it replaces (its 1cm shorter, narrower, but the same height).

In true 'Boss' style:
Design orignially: 1/10

Got to agree with KillerH...... rub out some curves, put in some edges.... very samey.

Killer, let me explain..

Mercedes, IMO. have lost their design direction, whilst Audi at the other extreme, have become rather boring and bland.. maybe that is me then, but what Mercedes has lost, i feel Audi are gaining, instance identity, that Mercedes did have, but today, you need to take a second glance to be sure the Mercedes is not a Hyundai or something.

The new TT is rather refinded in many areas, the dash is simple, not symetrical, but Audi never were, its subtle, it felt high quality, its design is evolutionary, not revolutionary.

The TT felt a little 911 in that it has defined to style and icon in the past 10 years, and moves forward much like the 911.. whilst the SLK, IMO is still floating left and right, its not quite sure yet

I think Mercedes up to the mid-90s were instantly recognisable.
I think the new S- C- E- A- CLA GLA have very similar faces.
The interiors are more modern too. Start of a new look??

Nice SLK pics.

The TT is still a hairdressers car - but now with a map in place of the dashboard. :D

It is an Audi so we know where it lives on the cool board.

Audi design is from the Russian doll school .. all look roughly the same but different sizes. I agree it provides brand identity, but it's very dull and boring.

Mercedes design is a disaster only in the lower reaches of its offerings .. A, B, CLA, GLA etc .. all the front wheel drive platforms. Traditional RWD platforms still retain "Mercedesness" but MBUK is trying its best to dilute that by not offering the upright bonnet star on C and E classes.

No intention to offend anyone……….

What's the point of a new model if you need to park it next to the previous one so you can spot the difference?

Then again, I wonder if it is a product of cost and regulations. There is only so much that can be done when hamstrung by crash legislation, especially in relation to pedestrians.

Couldn't agree more! Tried to force myself to consider an Audi as an option when changing cars, but they were all just so blah... The only exception being the R8.

I had the same conclusions after seeing one on Saturday. I wouldn't call it a new model, just light facelift on the outside. Can't comment on interior as I didn't have closer look.

Boss, I beg to differ on this one! :) Having had a new SLK for around 8 months now, I think it's evolved nicely and become pretty much a smaller SL, something that harks back to the original SL190. Impressive car in a lot of ways (I intend to show you close up very soon! LOL) and not unsure of itself, IMO.

Are we still doing Wednesday? or you free tomorrow? Tomorrow might be better if you are around?

Tomorrow will be hard as I'm in meetings most of the day. I'll call you tomorrow!

Had a TT then got the SL. I wouldn't go back.
Think the Audis are a bit too "try hard".
