Hi, I have a 2015 W447 Vito 119, the horn is literally pathetic and an embarrassment to use!
Anyone had experience of replacing or upgrading the horn on this vehicle?
At this stage I haven't even had chance to establish where the current horn/s is/are located so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

The crapy Merc horn is at the back of the grill, I changed mine for a dual tone BMW horn that I had in my garage. So much better now.

I can totally empathise with the shear embarrassment of using the w447 Vito peep.

My wife's quingo motabilty scooters horn is more masculine.

The first time I used mine I quickly covered my face. I've not used it since although that in itself cost the local lolly pop lady her life last week. If only I'd had a manly horn.

Ant.

I don't use mine...

Pretty sure there have been some posts about upgraded horns for the W639, which is equally pathetic. I did a quick search but couldn't find them though :(

The low note horn was dead on my w211 so I replaced the pair with PIAA Superior Bass Horns and I am very pleased with them.:D

Not sure what the existing horns on your Vito look like but on the w211 it was a dead easy straight swap.

Maybe your not holding it down long enough

LoL

I rarely use mine except when another road user causes me to drastically take evasive actions due to there not driving to the Highway Code rules
I hold it on for at least 20 secs.

Ha ha, mines got worn out this last week or so, started to wonder if the vans invisible, but have come to the conclusion, driving is the last thing on many peoples minds whilst they are actually driving.

Fwiw I don't think I have ever used my horn whilst driving or riding my motorbike.????

/edit.
Actually, I don't even know what my own Vito's horn sounds like for that matter. Think I'll give it a beep now, next time I'm using it.

Is there a good ‘like for like’ option to replace the standard W639 (2013) horn?
I’m not the least bit mechanically minded, so I don’t want to start stripping/cutting wires or relocating it, but mine is now making a strange deep, choky noise so I’m guessing it has had its day.

I’ll check for blockages first, when I do take it out, but a straight physical swap for a better aural result would be ideal.

Thanks
