Hi all,
can anyone help me, i am trying to find out for sure if my sprinter monitors the oil pressure, some forums say that it does not which is really annoying if true as i have a turbo on it that has failed for no clear reason, it is recon unit that's has only done 12000 miles, no warning lights or engine management lights have come up just started running rough then i noticed the turbo making a noise at idle so after further investigation i found the the turbo impeller had about 2 millimeter play in it, my first thought was no oil getting to it as all else seems fine, the vehicle didn't smoke to much but i had noticed more smoke in the mornings but nothing to be to concerned about, oil level has gone down a bit in the last week which is consistent with a failed turbo so maybe i just could not see the smoke when driving however i would still like to check the oil pressure before moving forward with repair as i have noticed a vibration at low revs, more noticeable when moving around a tight car park or moving away at traffic lights when just touching the throttle, i noticed the slight vibration before i noticed it was not running as smooth as it was.
any help with this oil pressure monitoring question would be great help, the workshop that its into be repaired are confused as to why i am interested in the oil pressure as the believe sprinter engines monitor everything.
