Hi all,

I wondered if anybody could help shed light before a trip to the specialist.

Car:
2017 C43 - 64K miles - Serviced 3 months ago.

Symptom:
For the last 3/4 weeks I've noticed an odd smell in the cabin, to me it smells like fuel, but could also be oil which is subtle but at a point where I open windows as it's slightly headache inducing otherwise. If I do recirc then it stops, but in cancelling the recirc I get an a more obvious build up, again still relatively subtle.

It was parked for 3-4 weeks dormant and on moving it could see a small dinner plate sized transparent stain, certainly wasn't dirty oil.

Driving:
No loss of power that's obvious, but if I do try and boot it there's perhaps more smell? I've therefore been granny driving. No engine lights or other notification, the coolant level all looks to be on the Max line too.

I've whipped off the cover after a decent drive and have taken some pictures of residue I can see, though unclear if this is the source or if it's historic.

Anybody able to give me some idea if it's common to see this residue in this place and if not which part of the engine this is?

Thanks!

Hi.
I had a similar issue, although with a completely different car (audi s4 2012 model). For me the hose connecting the fuel tank to the engine was split at the fuel tank end. It was an easy fix but diagnostic took ages since apparently that wasn’t an obvious place to look. Just thought I’d share that experience!
Good luck and hope you get it fixed - I’ve got a 2017 c43 so if you get it fixed please let us know in case it happens to me in future!
Cheers
