E Class Cabriolet 2019 A238 Prem. Plus

I am getting my cracked windscreen replaced and want to be sure the new one is up to spec.

My insurance only covers replacement by their approved supplier.

What is the filament that runs around the edge of the screen? It doesnt appear to be a heating element. But I could be wrong (again)

They know about the camera(s) and have allowed for their calibration

Thanks

David

Aerial?

Was the C class a cabriolet ?

My C class and SLC both have wires embedded all over the windscreen, both Premium Plus models. Part of them are aeriels but they also have heating elements in front of the cameras.

The might only cover replacement through their approved supplier, but worth asking if their approved supplier can fit a Mercedes supplied screen, or if they will sub out to a Mercedes specialist/dealer. I've read on here this route can be accessed via some insurance company's suppliers.

Regarding this point, make sure they will do a proper calibration, not just a "quick drive to show it still works"
I had the screen replaced on my Lexus and the ADAS calibration took nearly 6hrs and included a full suspension geometry check/adjustment. The system needs to know the wheels are pointing in the right direction! The calibration was done in a dedicated workshop

Thanks. I will ask them for their process. National Windscreens are the supplier. Never used them before.

Hi , I had a cracked windscreen in my C207.Insurance company wanted to supply a 3rd party screen and I paid the difference between 3rd party and OEM screen.

Please can someone advise me. Huge chunk of stone hit my windscreen and chipped it quite badly. Autoglass guy told hubby he wasn’t sure the resin would work and could possibly be MOT failure. Replacement screen needed. Insurance company won’t let me have Mercedes screen unless I pay an additional £400. I love my car and am really worried about the standard screen, not to mention the fitting of it. I’ve read lots of horror stories of cars being scratched/damaged etc. Can anyone advise me please? Thank you 😊

Mercedes doesn't make windscreens, so they will always be from someone else

Insurers do have to ensure you have full functionality after the replacement, so just make a note of the points above and perhaps take photos of the before and after surround just in case, but most of the fitters do a few every day and they will be good at what they do.

Don't stress....

Thank you. I have been really stressing. I love my car … probably too much!

I plan on taking photos of the inside and out - just in case. I take it you don’t think it’s worth paying an additional £400?

Ask autoglass for a pilkington screen. Top notch they are and possibly OEM ?

Autoglass also give you an unlimited warranty if something isn't right after fitting. My ford kugas screen is heated and stopped working, autoglass came out and changed it foc after one phone call.

Thank you
