Afternoon all,
Im having a bit of a scratchy head moment. Ive got a 1990 208D with the OM601 engine and it seems to 'get hot' but not over heat. On my temp gauge there are 2 white lines at approx 1/4 and 3/4. I can leave the engine running all day and it will stay at the lower mark but on the motorway it creeps up to the higher mark and feels sluggish (not that its ever going to break any speed records). But only when i'm in 5th, if i drop down to 4th gear increasing the RPM's and maintaining the speed it cools down fairly quickly so i'm assuming it something that correlates with engine speed.
Im not an expert on this engine so can only take guesses as to what it could be. Im imagining its either thermostat, water pump or fan.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Regards
Dan
